Community Bank Funding Brings “Twinkle Trees on Main” to Life in Winchelsea

8 Sep 2025

Winchelsea’s Christmas celebrations will shine even brighter this year, thanks to the generous financial support of Community Bank Winchelsea & District.

The funding has enabled the Winchelsea Men’s Shed to create 50 handcrafted timber Christmas trees, which will be distributed to local families to decorate in the lead-up to Christmas.

The project, titled “Twinkle Trees on Main”, forms part of the broader Christmas in Winchelsea festivities. Families will be encouraged to decorate their timber trees and display them proudly along Main Street, helping to light up Winchelsea with festive colour and creativity.

President of Growing Winchelsea, John Tebbutt said the initiative captures the true spirit of the season.

“This project brings together our community in such a meaningful way. It’s about creativity, family fun, and making our town look and feel festive. We are grateful to Community Bank Winchelsea & District for making this possible, and to the Men’s Shed volunteers for their hard work in crafting the trees.”

Community Bank Winchelsea & District’s contribution highlights the importance of local partnerships in creating vibrant community events.

“Supporting projects like Twinkle Trees on Main is exactly what community banking is about – investing in local initiatives that bring people together,’ said Kelly Turner, Community Engagement Advisor, Community Bank Winchelsea & District.”

The 50 timber trees will be available on a first-come basis, with details on collection and decorating workshops to be announced shortly.

Christmas in Winchelsea will include a Twilight market that coincides with Carols by the Barwon, the Lion’s Club Christmas Lights competition and an Elf on the Shelf Christmas Trail for business.

Planning is already underway, and we welcome community involvement to make this Christmas a special celebration. If you are interested in helping in any way please contact Elaine Atkinson on mobile 0458009616 or email secretary@growingwinchelsea.com
