Winchelsea Women's Business Network

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

On 18 March 2025 the women of Winchelsea will come together to celebrate International Women’s Day at the Hub with an expected audience of over 60 business women to share information and advice, build networks, increase community connections and build business success.

It’s time to turn promises into progress. Let’s March Forward together. The theme for 2025 is Accelerate Action – as individuals, we can all take steps in our daily lives to positively impact women’s advancement. We can call out stereotypes, challenge discrimination, question bias, celebrate women’s success and so much more. Additionally, sharing our knowledge and encouragement with others is key.

A key outcome of the event will see the establishment of a Winchelsea Women’s Business Network that meets regularly to develop skills, broaden networks, build strategic alliances, develop leadership potential and encourage community engagement activities.

The project, a collaboration with Winchelsea House, Winchelsea Country Women’s Association, Surf Coast Shire and Community Bank Winchelsea & District will be ongoing and evolve to meet the personal and professional development needs of our local women.

Women will have access to the following opportunities:

  • Develop networks in a friendly, nurturing, local environment
  •  Access to information and advice with speakers from business, government & community organisations
  •  Build skills in leadership and business development through training & development programs
  •  Increase understanding and access to available local services through themed business forums & events
  •  Promote volunteer participation by encouraging local community leaders to tell their stories

Through these networks we can achieve sustainable growth for Winchelsea, allowing women to:

  • Develop a sense of pride from knowledge of local history and our cultural heritage
  • Consider business development that aligns to the town’s identity and character
  • Maximise attendance at local events & forums that engages networks of other towns
  • Build strategic alliances to maximise business promotional/development opportunities

We will also support a robust and diverse economy by encouraging participation of women from diverse backgrounds through targeted strategies:

  • Inviting local guest speakers from multicultural backgrounds to tell their story thereby building understanding of cultural diversity
  • Utilising different communication & welcoming strategies to encourage increased participation
  • Building knowledge of local Strategic and Community Plans to foster entrepreneurship to grow business and jobs
