Winchelsea has always been a town where people care about their community. Whether you've lived here for generations or only recently made Winchelsea your home, we all share something in common, we want our town to grow in a way that reflects its unique character, friendly village atmosphere and beautiful natural environment.
That's exactly what the new Winchelsea Place Plan is all about. Earlier this year, 29 local residents came together and worked alongside Surf Coast Shire to develop a shared vision for Winchelsea's future. Together, they identified the values and priorities that matter most to our community and created a practical roadmap to guide how our town should grow in the years ahead.
The good news is that Winchelsea's future growth can now be guided by the entire community as a collaborative discussion. The Place Plan sets out the key principles for fair, sustainable and well-designed development that respects our heritage, protects our environment, preserves the village feel that makes Winchelsea such a special place to live. It outlines a set of aspirations and visions to help guide the ongoing discussions, strategies, decisions and investments.

The plan has been developed in the context of a number of contributing documents, including the Urban Futures Strategy (UFS) and Planning Scheme Review (PSR) engagement summary report.
