SAVE THE DATE – Tuesday 18 March 2025 9.00 am – 11.30 am at the Hub in Winchelsea. Come and share in the celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) as we March Forward together.
Many community members of Winchelsea have met Kelly Turner, Community Engagement Advisor with the Bendigo Bank Lorne but do you know the woman behind that smile?
Kelly lights up when she speaks about her role with the bank.
“I love to invest in the community and feel very, very lucky to be able to make the community smile,” said Kelly who has worked in various roles at the bank for over 10 years starting as a part time Bank Teller at the Anglesea branch while her 3 kids were young.
“In 2015 I transferred to Lorne and started to dabble in social media which led me to my current marketing role. In 2024 Winchelsea received the accolade of being the Heart Safe Town for 2024 from Ambulance Victoria following the Community Bank’s push to increase the number of heart defibrillators,” continues Kelly who played a key role in this project.
Kelly is an independent woman raising her 3 kids alone following a divorce where she hit rock bottom but through her own tenacity, with family support did a 360 degree turnaround leading her to where she is today.
“The support of other women in those early days, giving me the opportunity to share my story, receive business and personal advice from like minded women would have been valuable. I am pleased to be part of a group of dynamic women interested in celebrating International Women’s Day. I encourage women to come to our planned brunch on Tuesday 18 March 2025 and provide input into the formation of a Winchelsea Women’s Business Network,” continues Kelly.
Mentoring is a great way to provide guidance, support, and insights needed to achieve personal goals, and help to build confidence and self-esteem. Kelly has been fortunate to also have the informal mentoring support of Rob Cameron who guided her in her current role, always ringing and offering welcome advice.
“Informal mentoring is a natural progression for members of business networks so feel free to contact Elaine Atkinson via email at secretary@growingwinchelsea or telephone her on 0458009616
