Fortunately last year the Movie Club only had to close for 2 months, September & October due to Covid Restrictions, but with the easing of these restrictions the Movie Club was able to recommence in November in the Globe Hall, providing all the Covid requirements necessary.
Members were very happy to get together again & enjoy a popular movie ‘Fishermen’s Friends’ and catching up with each other over supper. However due to the Covid restrictions the committee decided to hold a Christmas Movie night in December instead of the annual Christmas dinner and Movie night. The Committee worked hard to provide an uplifting Christmas theme for the night, decorating the Hall, showing the Christmas film ‘Love Actually’ and providing a delicious special supper, wines and door prizes. As the members were very happy to linger over supper and chat to each other it seemed to be a very enjoyable night.
This year 2022 has got off to a promising start. We have 50 paid members this year – $70.00 for full members per year, $65.00 for Health Care card holders. 6 monthly tickets (5 movies) are available at $40.00 or $35.00 for HCC holders.
Annual membership entitles members to 10 movies per year including a delicious supper, wine and many special treats during the year. Members can lend their tickets if they are away to a friend or neighbour. Members can bring a visiting guest free of charge a couple of times a year.
The Movie Club is a place where you can meet new people and enjoy a great night out. There are 80 Movie Societies/Clubs in Victoria. Our Movie Club is a member of the Federation of Victorian Film Societies. As a member we pay $66.00 per screening and must show movies to members only. To show movies to the public without this membership we would need to pay up to $300.00 royalties for each showing.
Our first Movie for this year on Thursday17th February was ‘What we did on our Holidays’ starring Billy Connelly. It was a light-hearted fun movie to start the year. 50 members and some guests came along to enjoy the movie & catch up with friends & have a good night out in Winch.
We look forward to and hope this year will be a successful year of movie nights.
