National Trust positive response to think tank suggestions

10 Mar 2022

A number of Growing Winchelsea members attended the Barwon Park “think Tank” zoom meeting in September 2021.

  1. 4 of the Growing Winchelsea members wrote to the National Trust discussing a variety of future programs and community involvements.
  2. We then collated the 4 documents and emailed that to Dr Jacqueline Healy, Director NTAV. That collated document was forwarded to the Chair of NTAV (appointment commenced on 01/03/2022). The Chair has agreed to meet and discuss our document. Again, we anticipate a very positive participation with the NTAV to lift Barwon Park to its full potential. Growing Winchelsea effectively have two projects with Barwon Park.
    1. The above which includes the;
      1. Arboretum Walk
      2. Engaging specific organisations to develop a composition of attractions to be held at Barwon Park.
      3. A strategy to increase: community involvement, the reputation and distinctive opportunities available and to create BP as a welcome destination including such activities as car clubs.
      4. To recreate the military displays (as performed some years ago) to attract people to Barwon Park.
    2. The development of a “complete equestrian” centre for; entertainment, national competition and Winchelsea participation in learning and enjoying.

When these are combined Barwon Park will be a renowned attraction in Victoria. Our meeting with the new Chair we hope to inspire a plan for a “Barwon Park’s transition to the future” which will be a major part of Winchelsea Population to 10,000. They will reinforce each other.
