Planning underway for International Women’s Day 2025

20 Dec 2024

SAVE THE DATE – Tuesday 18 March 2025 9.00 am – 11.30 am at the Hub in Winchelsea.  Come and share in the celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) as we March Forward together.

The key theme for IWD 2025 is Accelerate Action – as individuals we can all take steps in our daily lives to positively impact women’s advancement.  We can call out stereotypes, challenge discrimination, question bias, celebrate women’s success and so much more.

On Monday 2 December a dynamic group of women put their hand up to plan this event which will be possible, thanks to a Health and Wellbeing grant from the Surf Coast Shire and financial support from the Community Bank Winchelsea & District.

“This event is part of a broader project which will see the development of a Women’s Business Network in Winchelsea, a collaboration between Growing Winchelsea, Winchelsea House, Country Women’s Association, Community Bank and the Economic Development Unit of Surf Coast Shire,” said John Tebbutt, President of Growing Winchelsea Inc.

“Access to social networks typically differs for men and for women. Usually, women have less access to networks due to pressures of balancing home, work and family.  Networks are responsible for a large percentage of career progression and business growth, so limited access could be a barrier to women’s opportunities.  From personal experience I have seen the positive influence that business networks have on supporting the personal and professional development of women,” said Elaine Atkinson, Secretary of Growing Winchelsea.

“Feel free to contact me via email at secretary@growingwinchelsea or telephone me on 0458009616 if you want further information or just to chat about what is important to you as you look to return to the workforce, to grow your business, progress in your career or develop your leadership potential.  It’s important that we, together develop a business network that meets the personal and professional needs of our local women”. concludes Elaine.
