It is with deep sadness that we heard about the passing of Mike Tucker, a well-known and respected figure in the Winchelsea community. Mike passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, leadership, and heartfelt commitment to the town.
Mike made a valuable and lasting contribution to Growing Winchelsea over many years. He worked tirelessly as an advocate for positive growth and sustainable development, always championing the future of the town while honouring its unique heritage. His passion for community progress was evident in everything he did, from thoughtful planning discussions to hands-on involvement in local initiatives. His most recent battle was to support the community engagement planning for the installation of the cob wall at the Mud Hut. Mike played a key role in the reintroduction of the Planning and Infrastructure subcommittee for Growing Winchelsea understanding the importance of a strong voice in community planning.
As a familiar face and trusted voice in Winchelsea, Mike was more than just a community advocate—he was a neighbour, a friend, and a true local identity. His integrity, warmth, and dogged approach made a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working with him.
Mike's efforts helped shape a stronger, more connected community, and his legacy will live on through the projects he supported and the people he inspired.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family.
