Growing Winchelsea received a response from SCS to our communication after the Road safety strategy meeting.
We attended the above Zoom meeting held by the SCS. We had a very good response to our two questions from Eloise Gannon, Road Safety Officer.
- The DOT (Department of Transport) data is showing a significant increase in FOM (Frequency of Movement) of heavy vehicles, showing it has tripled since 2009. Anecdotal evidence suggests not only the Princes Highway is suffering from this, but secondary roads are too being overused creating the need for care and significant maintenance. Should the SCS seek clarification on the dangers of this phenomenon.
- The intersections on the Princes Highway and “Hendy Main Rd” and Cape Otway Rd” may be a safety implementation. How is the success of this being measured and indeed policed?
