The Arboretum gains traction

28 Jun 2022

It is with great pleasure that we can share with you the news that our application under the Federal Government’s grant programme, Planting Trees for the Queen’s Jubilee, has been successful.

Thank you to everyone for your contribution, however large or small, to the success of this application.  During this process we forged strong new connections and strengthened existing relationships and we are very grateful for the time, patience and expertise willingly given.

For those of you who are unaware, this grant forms part of the $100k that was made available to each Federal Electorate under the program.  Specifically our grant will be applied to the planting of approximately 60 Corymbia Citriodora, Lemon Scented Gums, along Mercer and Barkly Sts., Winchelsea, to be contiguous with those existing in Barkly St. We will continue our community engagement as the project progresses.  The project
includes many milestones including a Celebration and Opening of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Avenue, planned for the afternoon of the 2nd of December, World Pollution Prevention Day.  Please mark this date in your calendars.

If you are the convenor of a group please advise all members of your team, and feel free to share this information, as you see appropriate.

On behalf of the community members of the Arboretum Trail, Sam Inglis, Libby Russell and Michelle Stocks and myself, our heartfelt gratitude.  We anticipate this project to be the start of many such, and look forward to assisting in greening, beautifying and connecting Winchelsea, together with the many other benefits that are associated with tree planting.
